Common questions

Can I start as a complete beginner?
Yes. If you're brand new, start with our free kana practice to learn hiragana and katakana, then move on to lessons.
Can I set my own goals and pace?
Yes. You choose what to focus on and how much to do each day. There are no rigid schedules or deadlines. You can set custom daily and weekly practice targets.
Will this help me understand real Japanese, not just textbook examples?
Every lesson sentence and dialogue line comes with audio and natural phrasing. You train with the kind of Japanese you actually hear in conversation, shows and everyday life.
What is spaced repetition and how does it work?
Spaced repetition brings back what you've learned just before you'd forget it. You remember more, in less time, without cramming.
What spaced repetition system does Mouichido use?
Mouichido uses FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) to plan your reviews of words, grammar points, sentences and photo cards. Each one comes back right when you're about to forget it.
How is this different from flashcard-only apps?
Flashcard apps usually test words in isolation. Mouichido teaches words in context, with exercises for reading, listening and typing, plus Live talk and text chat conversations.
